Kathy McCarthy - Lead Teacher
Hi, My name is Kathy McCarthy. I am very excited to be here in the preschool. I am a mother of two great daughters. Meghan is a junior at Winona State University and Maureen is a senior at Concordia Acadamy High School in Roseville. My husband of 24 years works as a Regional Sales Manager for a company in California.
My teaching experiences includes teaching upper elementary, long term subbing, being a preschool aide, kindergarten aide, and substitute teaching K-8. I have over 20+ years of Catholic School teaching experience. I have a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood.
I enjoy working so much with these adorable little children and they sure keep you moving!! It is so amazing how they love to learn and how easy they can make friends. Thank you for sharing them with me.

Susan Graves - Teacher Aide and Lunch Bunch
My name is Susan Graves and I am new to the St. Joe’s family this year. I grew up in Green Bay so yes I love my Packers! I graduated from U of MN with a degree in Graphic Arts.
I currently live in Eagan with my husband Tim, of 16 yrs. and we have two children and a black lab. Spencer is 13, Lizzy is 10 and Ozzy is 7. We keep very busy with Spencer’s baseball & football games and Lizzy’s dance & soccer. Our family is very involved in volunteering in our community, Faithful Shepherd and St. John Neumann.
Some of my favorite things to do are spending time with my family at our family cottage in Wisconsin - skiing, tubing, fishing, and swimming. I also enjoy downhill skiing, reading books, gardening, boating, walking my dog and going to movies.
Each year as I volunteered in my children’s school, I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up. A teacher. I love to watch how children blossom intellectually, physically and emotionally from the start of the school year until the end. I love helping children achieve even the smallest steps and watch them get so excited knowing they did it all by themselves. For 7 plus years I have subbed in district 196 for various preschools and ECFE classes as well as K -2nd grade. I also taught at Adventure Kids a mom’s day out program in Eagan. My favorite time is craft time! I just can’t shake the excitement of watching children get excited when their artwork comes to life. One thing my previous children would say about me is that I am silly. I love to get children laughing and learning.

Colleen Volkmann - Lunch Bunch
Hello to the Preschool Families.
My name is Colleen Volkmann and I am the new Terrific Threes Teacher Aide. I am so excited to be part of the preschool family and I can't wait to meet each and everyone of you. Besides being an alum and a parishioner here at St. Joseph's, I am also a mom to four beautiful children who have or are currently attending school at St. Joseph's. My children range in ages form 14 all the way down to my 4 year old who also is in the St. Joseph's Preschool Program. So needless to say, St. Joseph's is and always has been a very big part of my life.
A little bit about my teaching background. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and currently pursuing my Masters of Education with a licensure in Reading. I have been in the educational field for over ten years as a parent, substitute and preschool teacher. As well as a home bound instructor, teacher aide and the director of the West St. Paul Park and Recreation Gymnastic Program. Teaching has always been one of my passions and I am very grateful to be working at the school were it all began for me.
I can not wait to meet all of you!
